Psalm 23 Show Garden - RHS Chelsea Flower Show

Since achieving RHS Gold with the Hillier Staging Team in 2013 while a garden-design student, Gillian has been fortunate to continue working annually at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show.

Gillian is very grateful to have had the opportunity to work with Paul Hervey-Brookes, who she considers one of her mentors, including in his ‘Renaissance Garden’ for BrandAlley on Main Avenue 2014 (awarded Bronze), and Fernando Gonzalez in 2015 - ‘Pure Land Foundation Garden’ (awarded Silver-Gilt) in the Fresh Gardens.

She has been honoured to work closely in recent years at Chelsea with 20-plus-time RHS Gold Medal winner Sarah Eberle. Sarah is the most decorated designer in RHS Chelsea Flower Show history. She has also worked with Sarah on occasions outside of the Show, and was hand-picked as part a team for a large private residential project in Oxfordshire.

Gillian is professionally and affectionately known as Sarah’s ‘right hand, arm and backbone’.

In 2016 it was double Gold for The Viking Cruises Mekong Garden in the Artisan Gardens category, and Hillier Nurseries' ‘In Spring’ garden in the Great Pavilion.

In 2017 it was a further double Gold for The Viking Cruises ‘Garden of Inspiration’ in the Artisan Gardens category, and Hillier Nurseries' ‘Spring Garden’ in the Great Pavilion.

Gillian created and supported the build of the Hillier exhibit in the Great Pavilion, which won its 73rd consecutive Gold Medal in 2018.

The British Council Garden - India: ‘A Billion Dreams’ in the Artisan Gardens category was created simultaneously with the Hillier garden in 2018, and was awarded a Silver-Gilt, just missing out on Gold.

In 2019 they brought to life The Resilience Garden, a Main Avenue Show Garden sponsored by The Forestry Commission and Gravetye Manor winning Gold and the Best Construction award.

When the Chelsea Flower Show was moved to September in 2021, the sponsor was The Bible Society and the garden was inspired by Psalm 23 - The Lord is My Shepherd. They were awarded Gold, Best in Category and Best Construction.

In 2022, Gillian joined forces once again with Sarah Eberle to bring to life the Gold-medal winning ‘Building the Future’ garden for sponsors, Medite® Smartply on Main Avenue at Chelsea. The garden was also awarded Best Construction.
